1. Epsom Salt:

Directions to use:

  • Mix two cups of Epsom salt in a bathtub which is filled with warm water.
  • Get in this bathtub for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Get out of the bath, pat dry your skin and then apply a good moisturizer liberally.
  • Do these two or three times a week.

2.Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is helpful to maintain the natural pH balance of the skin thus quite beneficial to prevent infections. It is good to reduce skin irritation and itching.

Directions to use

  • Take one teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar and mix it in a glass of water. Drink it two times in a day, especially during flare-ups. This remedy helps in the detoxification of the body thus good for psoriasis.
  • Alternatively, mix one part of apple cider vinegar with three parts of lukewarm water. Soak a washed cloth in this solution and use this cloth as a compress for about one minute. Repeat it several times in a day during flare-ups.

3.Ice Pack

An ice pack is also considered as a good natural skin treatment. It provides relief from itching and irritation caused by psoriasis. It also helps to ease the pain associated with psoriasis, by numbing the nerve endings.

Directions to use

  • Wrap a few ice cubes in a clean piece of towel or washcloth.
  • Place an ice pack on the affected area.
  • Leave it on for at least eight to 10 minutes.
  • Do it after a few hours throughout the day during flare-ups.

4. Oatmeal bath

An oatmeal bath is considered as an effective home remedy for psoriasis. It helps in the hydration and soothing of the skin layers. It also reduces the itching and inflammation associated with psoriasis.

Directions to use:

  • Mix one cup of finely powdered oatmeal in a bathtub filled with warm water. Get yourself in this oatmeal bath for 15 to 20 minutes every day during flare-ups. When you get out of this oatmeal bath, rinse yourself with lukewarm water. Then pat dry your skin and apply a good moisturizer.
  • In another option, wrap two handfuls of rolled oats in a muslin cloth and then place it in the hot water bathtub. The next step is to add some cold water so that bathwater can come to a comfortable temperature. Then Squeeze the oat bag in this. Soak in this water for at least 10 minutes. One can also use the oat bag as a gentle cleanser after soaking. After a bath, pat dry your skin and moisturize it. One can do this every day during flare-ups. Don’t keep the oat bag, discard it after every bath.

5. Garlic

Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of garlic make it  useful remedy for psoriasis.  Garlic inhibits the activity of an enzyme (lipoxygenase) which is responsible for the inflammation in psoriasis.  Plus its antimicrobial and blood purifying properties are helpful to prevent infections.

Directions to use:

  • Take equal amounts of garlic oil and aloe vera gel. Mix them well.
  • Apply it on the affected area.
  • Leave it on for about 15 minutes.
  • Then wash it with water.
  • Do it two times daily for better results.

6. Olive Oil

Use of the Olive oil is also good to deal with psoriasis as it helps to reduce the itching, scaling and burning sensation in the skin.

Directions to use

  • Apply the lukewarm olive oil gently on the affected areas.  Repeat it several times daily for positive results.
  • Another option is to add two drops of calendula oil and one drop of oregano oil into one cup of olive oil. Apply it on the affected area. Leave it on for a few hours and then wash it off. Repeat it several times in a day during flare-ups.

7. Aloe vera:

Applying aloe-vera gel to the affected area in psoriasis is good to reduce the rashes and scaling of the skin. Apply it at least 3 times each day to reduce the lesions. Do it continuously for three to four weeks, there will be a noticeable change on the skin.

8. Banana Peel:

Banana peel is a very effective ingredient to cure skin diseases. It is also a natural skin treatment in psoriasis. Take a banana peel and rub the inner area of the peel on skin lesions. It helps in the soothing the skin and also removes the rashes.

9. Cashew Nut Oil:

Use of cashew nut oil helps to improve the flare-ups of psoriasis. It also removes the dead skin and moisturizes the skin.

Directions to use

Mix 5ml of cashew nut oil and 5ml of coconut oil and apply it to affected areas two times daily.

10. Baking Soda & Water:

Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 4 teaspoons of water. Apply it on the affected area with a sterilized cotton cloth in order to prevent bacteria. Leave until it dries and falls off.
