There are many, many big milestones in life and how important these are will vary from person to person, however, for the most part there some milestones that all people can agree on and today we are going to share with you some tips for how to prepare for five of these big milestones.

Learning to Drive

In the UK you can apply for your provisional licence as young as 15 years and nine months old, and once you have your provisional license, you can start studying for your theory exam. Once you are 17 years old, you can get behind the wheel of a car and start taking driving lessons and sit your test.

Every person is different when it comes to how long they will need to learn to drive, however, the average driver needs around 47 hours of lessons and 22 hours of private practice to be able to sit their driving test and get a pass.

Going to University

Going to university is the first step on your journey to getting your perfect career. In the UK you must apply to university through UCAS and preparing for university begins when you are still in high school. So, it is important that if you plan to go to university that you are looking at the entry requirements for your chosen courses when you are making your class choices for final exams.

Once you have been accepted to university, you can sort out your living situation as well as applying for funding, such as your student loan, and making sure you have all the materials you need. You may also want to consider setting up a student bank account and signing up to student discount sites such as Unidays and TOTUM.

Buying Your First Home

Buying your first home is a big step that many people look forward to for a long time. Your first home, for many people, is a sign of new beginnings and the future, and so this big milestone should be treated with care.

Before making a move to get the home buying process underway, there are some things that you must make sure you research thoroughly, such as:

· Potential areas

· Types of home

· The property market

· What you can afford/your budget

· Your mortgage options

Buying your first home may seem daunting at first. However, there are a lot of good resources for home buyers online as well as through a real estate agent or mortgage broker.

Getting Married

Many people dream of getting married someday, so, when you find that person you want to spend the rest of your life with you may want to consider proactively planning for the future.

Weddings are an expensive and complicated affair to organise, so it would be wise to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to prepare for your big day. Most couples take approximately 13-18 months to plan their wedding, though this is a rough estimate.

If you are planning to have a simple wedding, you may find that you don’t need as much time to plan the event. Similarly, you may need longer to plan your special day if you have your heart set on a very specific venue/location or if the costs are an issue.

Having A Baby

For a lot of people having children is a huge part of their future plans and, as with any lifechanging milestone, the decision to have a baby comes with a lot of responsibility. You can ensure that you are taking on the responsibility by making sure that you are ready to have a baby.

For example, it is important that before having a baby that you are financially stable as being a parent is expensive. You also need to be sure that you, or your partner, are fit and healthy to safely carry a child and to look after the baby once it is born. Once you find out you are pregnant, you will have several months until your baby is born, giving your plenty of time to make all the necessary preparations and get ready to become a parent.

These milestones are just a few of the most common, and largest, milestones that life may throw at you in the future. By taking some time to research and prepare ahead of time, you will be set to tackle these, and many other, milestones that mat be in your future.
