How to Braid Your Hair With Box Braids
Box braids are very beautiful but can be time consuming and expensive. If you have the time and want to make your own hair is a way to do it.
Time for jumbo box braids and more
1. Clean hair
Wash your hair, you don't want products to build up when you are getting a fresh braid. So get your favorite clarifying shampoo to strip your hair of unwanted build up of products, but if you suffer from extra dry hair, then use a regular shampoo just to keep your hair clean. When you are done with the shampooing shampoo just to keep your hair clean. When you are done with the shampooing process, proceed as you would regularly do with your conditioner.
At this time, you could take the time to de-tangle your hair as well, allowing the conditioner to saturate each strand for good moisture. In the end, you can also do an apple cider vinegar rinse to close the cuticle to lock in moisture and create a smoother hair finish. This is completely optional, but effective if necessary.
2. Dry your hair
Never attempt to apply braids on wet or damp hair (this goes for any kind of hair extension). Allow your hair to be fully dry, you can use a hooded hair dryer, blow dryer or simple air dry it’s up to you.
3. Get ready by sectioning your hair and thinking of your box braid hairstyle
Now that your hair is dry you can further detangle if necessary. You want your hair to be smooth as possible when doing Braid hairstyles. If you do not remove knots they will become even more tangled or matted when you are ready to remove your braids.
Section your hair in small sections of four and put aside. Take the section you are working with and separate into even smaller sections depending on how small or large you want your braids to be. Used wide tooth comb to separate the hair and keep it tangle free.
Now take a small section of the hair this should be the size of how you want all your brides to be. You want all your braids to be the same size or really identical as possible or else your box braids style will look uneven and you don’t want that.
4. Get a little of your box braids rather its human or synthetic hair to create your braided hairstyle, bend it in half, forming an upside down u shape. Separate your small section of hair that you are about to braid in 3 small pieces. Place the end of the box braid over your natural hair. Make a single braid with your hair in this order. Cross the left section under the center section, pull the right section under the center section, finishing a single braid.
The hair extension ought to be secure at this point. Redistribute the hair in a small section to make three-segment level within the same proportion of thickness and length. Braid your hair as neat and smooth as possible and keep all sections separate as you do.
5. You have to partition your first section of hair into precisely three segments as you braid. Doing as such makes smoother, neater plaits that will be easier to remove when you are ready to take them out. Continue braiding the other section of your hair until it's all complete.
6. Now at the end, do you want to put an elastic band to secure the hair? Or is it tight enough to be left alone? If you have your own natural hair at the end avoid using elastic at the ends as this can create split ends. If you have synthetic ends you can seal it by burning it a little or quickly putting it in and out of boiling water.
This whole box braid hairstyle process may have taken up to 4-6 hours depending on the length of your braids.
