The problem of drug addiction has existed in the world for a long time. At the moment, it has acquired a global character. Pill dependence is becoming more popular. This type of addiction can also be called substance abuse. This addiction has both physical and legal consequences for a person. People behave inappropriately under any type of drug. They are capable of any actions, including criminal acts.

What is drug addiction in general?

Addiction is a disease that is caused by the use of narcotic substances. Substance abuse is one of the common types of addiction. It represents a person’s dependence on biochemical pills. Substance abuse is an addiction to something that cannot be a drug and is intended for completely different purposes.

What is a pill addiction?

The substance abuse (like dependence on tablets) is not acquired specifically. You need to understand what the dependence on tablets is. Pill abuse means addiction to certain medications. Most often a person acquires this dependence as a result of gross mismanagement in the course of treatment. A person is prescribed drugs that they need to take for a long time and end up getting used to these pills. There are many cases when people took painkillers and got addicted.

But most often we are talking about tranquilizers. Anxiety is a sign of mental illness in a person. It is difficult to endure and therefore doctors prescribe pills for this. Tranquilizers have been around for a long time. They are used as relaxing medicine and sleeping pills.

What signs indicate that a person is addicted?

Each pill addiction has its own consequences and symptoms. But there are some common signs:

  • Increased sweating
  • A sharp increase in basal body temperature, which entails either heat or cold
  • A runny nose and watery eyes
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Pain in the stomach
  • Diarrhea
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Headaches
  • Panic attacks
  • Mental disorders, which manifests themselves through neurosis and anxiety
  • Cramps
  • Weight loss
  • Steady low pressure
  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Depression
  • Sensitivity to external factors such as sounds, light, and smells

Euphoria after taking drugs can last up to several hours. Drugs cause both physical and mental harm. World statistics confirm that there are many cases when drug addicts took their own lives under the influence of drugs. The addict begins to think about suicide as soon as the drug ceases to act. A person looks at the world through the prism of this condition. The addict immediately begins to think about getting these pills again and what to do if there is no money. This causes uncontrolled rage and aggression.

Should you treat addiction at home or in a clinic?

There are different opinions on the treatment of drug addiction. Some try to cure this problem at home with natural remedies such as birch sap, mushrooms, and bay leaf. In most cases, this method does not help with addiction and withdrawal symptoms. Therefore, it’s usually better to choose treatment in clinics. They can also provide a course of therapy at home. Doctors will constantly come to the patients and treat them. But such a method is less convenient and effective.

Treatment in a specialized addiction treatment center is the best option. Such clinics have all the provisions for this. Communication with people who have the same problem always brings positive results. The clinic also provides a psychological rehabilitation course that will benefit addicts. They can share their problems and doctors will definitely hear them.

During the course of rehabilitation, the addicts undergo treatment and doctors monitor them at home. They are required to do this in order to avoid attempts to disrupt the patients. Following all the instructions of a doctor, the person will never want to return to the past life.
