While exercising is good for your health overall, it also helps immensely to maintain the wellness of your eyes. As all opticians know and advise you, exercising helps the health of your eye because it improves blood circulation which in turn improves the oxygen levels in your eyes and gets rid of toxins.

Watch What You Eat

When you are making food, remember to include food that is rich in antioxidants such as Vitamin A and C (leafy, green vegetables, fish such as Salmon which is high in omega-3 fatty acids,  etc.), this may decrease the risks of you getting eye diseases such Cataract.

Wear Sunglasses

Whilst most people use Sunglasses as part of fashion, sunglasses are especially important in order to keep your eyes healthy. By wearing sunglasses, you are protecting your eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays of light (UV light). Basically any optician could help you find the perfect sunglass. Just remember to check if your sunglasses have both UVA and UVB protection when you purchase them.

Give your Eyes a Rest

In today’s fast-paced world, we are surrounded by devices that have bright screens and wide displays. This however is not good for our eyes. Prolonged exposure to screens that have blue light can create many problems such as dry eyes, headaches, blurred vision, etc. Of course, it is inevitable if you are working, in which case, you should definitely put a protective screen to your computer or definitely wear computer glasses to minimize the damage to your eyes.

Go for Regular Checks

It is absolutely necessary for you to get your eyes checked and there are many places that offer eye testing. Regular testing allows you to maintain the wellness of your eyes and also assists in the detection of serious conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataract, etc., early on.

Get Enough Sleep

Contrary to what you may think, resting your eyes for a couple of minutes is not sufficient. You need it for an extended period of time. When your body receives adequate rest, your eyes rest and become renewed. Don’t engage in any visual activities such as watching movies using the laptop, at least 10 minutes before you go to sleep. Take short breaks as well.  

Keep track of Other Illnesses

You need to control any other sicknesses you have been diagnosed with illnesses such as Diabetes, which when aggravated causes blindness as well. Further, find out if there are any historical conditions for which you also have to check if at all.

So remember to incorporate Eyesight checkups to your health checkups as vision checkups are quite important these days well. Having the gift of sight and being able to see things is truly a gift that we have received and we should not take it for granted.
