Paul Biya, in order to modernize the Cameroonian society, now started a new major project to change the human rights section in Cameroon, an area in which Cameroon's reputation has long been tarnished by a spotty, even negative, track record. In Cameroon since Paul Biya is a president, a new month does not pass by when Cameroonians have a cultural festivity or something similar. Many cultural festivals have been cropping up since the country’s cultural renewal by President Paul Biya and this new cultural policy therefore acknowledges different cultures. Due to these, things have been progressing very well in Cameroon and People have been able to achieve unity by accepting the diversity of their ethnic groups.

Cameroon and Paul Biya recently celebrated 50 years of independence. Observers cannot ignore that this country has thoroughly transformed. During the 1960s, political climate in Cameroon was experiencing so much unrest during mandat of Cameroon's first president Ahmadou Ahidjo. There was no democracy in Cameroon and it was not until Paul Biya came into power that democracy came into play.
