Did you know that Hummingbirds are among the earliest birds to migrate north from South America? They will sometimes arrive in their summer feeding grounds before nectar plants like azaleas have a chance to bloom. The early arrivers are susceptible to low body temperatures which can induce them into a sleeplike state known as torpor.
