Before I had children I spent several years looking after other people’s children so I had plenty of opportunities to experience using their buggy. What I found was that most people buy their first all singing, all dancing pram and intend to use it until their child is walking and no longer needs it.

The words travel wrap immediately make me feel cosy and warm. The thought of snuggling up in a car or train, cosy and warm, as you fly along on a cold winter’s day. Of course aside from the romantic view travel wraps are fantastically useful and can be used for so many purposes. You can take one with you when you travel, but I actually keep a blanket in the boot all the time just in case.

When you hear the words Cosy toes, it sounds like an old fashioned word now a days, but it is still very much a current product and often comes as a package for a new born baby with things like rain covers and car seats when you are buying a pram. But is always interesting to know whether it is still a good product and still does the job as well as a modern version of the same thing.

When I had my babies, I was quite happy bumbling along with the many baby blankets that I had been given. I had them all over the place, around the house, in the car and on the pram. Wherever I was I could just grab one and I always had spares.

Once you have got all the basis items you need for your baby, such as a car seat, pram, cot, nappies etc you start to think about other essentials for a new baby. They might not be the sort of things that everyone thinks is essential, but as a mum, to continue with certain activities in your life or just to make your life easier and you definitely consider them to be essential.

For many years I have worked for a company that sells baby blankets. The design of the blanket is unique as it fits inside buggies and car seats and wraps round. It has been a very successful product and we have never had any cause to redesign it for any reason. But the one thing that does constantly change is the colours and designs; we have to keep them fresh, new and current.

When I was small I never really was that bothered about dolls or teddies, and I never had a special toy or a comfort baby blanket and I never really understood them. My sister had a blanket which was a knitted patchwork blanket which was lined with satin. She carried it around everywhere with her and wore it completely out.

I work for a small company that makes a travel baby blanket for babies, I knew about this company long before I worked there and in fact I had actually bought one of their products several years before. It’s a great product and customers are always telling us how great it is and how much they love it, but it is very hard to get new customers to understand just how it works.

Whenever I am looking for a specific product I always start thinking that I will be able to pop to the shops and get what I need, but that is never what happens.

When you put the words homemade and baby together one of the things that first springs to mind is a baby blanket. It’s one of the simplest things to make for a new baby because it’s a straight sided flat piece of fabric. In fact it’s a perfect activity to do as a first project for anyone, even if you don’t have a baby you can always make one and give it to someone.

Years ago I was working in a job I loved but there were too many politics and I started to resent it. I knew I had to get out but I really needed to earn some money. The great thing about the job was the hours were flexible and I could work evenings when my children could be looked after by my partner.

I have never really made a firm decision about having more children and I had never given it much thought, I have my two children and we have enough room and money for them so it seemed natural to stop at two. Now they are a bit older, I am really glad to have some of my independence back and my children are past the stage where there is a lot of work involved and are fairly independent.

I am a sucker for fabric and always have been, I cannot resist a fabric shop and I always have to pop in and have a look around and I always end up buying a metre of fabric, buttons or ribbon. I never need to have a reason or a use for it; I just can’t leave without it. In fact even if I have a project that I want to use it for, I find it difficult to cut up.

Working in the baby industry over the last few years has really opened my eyes to the fashions and trends of this area. One of the first companies I dealt with was a franchise baby shower company. I was really surprised that people in this country had them; I always associated them with America having seen them on programmes such as Sex in the City.

The other day I was visiting a friend who had recently had a new baby, when I arrived and met the new little girl her mum asked me if I wanted to hold her, which of course I did. When I went to pick her up I found myself asking advice on how to hold her. I was so nervous because she was so tiny and fragile. Most of my friends have older children, so I don’t often get to spend time with friends with much younger babies.
