Phone prospecting can be one of the most important aspects of growing your ML*M business. Mastering phone prospecting is something every successful net worker must do and there is no better way to learn than to make it fun while you are at it! While phone prospecting is often dreaded, it does not have to be so bad. ML*M success is truly a people business and if you cannot create good repoire with a person over the phone, there is little future for you in this business.
Your confidence can only rub off on the others, and it can be only a good thing for your ML*M business. Another important tool in any business is knowledge. However, you can have the all the confidence in the world collectively and be the brain of the business but if you do not have your people skills fine tuned , somewhere along the way you will find yourself needing to do so! Have some humor within your business life can often take off the rough edges you may have in these areas.
We who have become home-based business entrepreneurs have a great advantage because we are not regulated by canned responses, we are able to design our own verbiage to use when prospecting and otherwise communicating with clients for maximum effectiveness.
Here are few steps you can take to create more fun during your phone/prospecting time:
• First and foremost, you must make a decision to have fun and create that kind of environment for yourself.. You set the tone for your business and it comes through the phone to your prospects.
• When the person picks up the phone you are automatically in their home literally a part of their experience and a part of their day, in their space just with the dialing of a number and the pick up on the other end!
• Imagine that each time you dial the phone you are off to some incredible place that is only a phone call away and fully be present to that place when the person answers the phone.
• Create an interest toward the person you are calling before they answer the phone and then appreciate what they have to offer in giving you of their time. Note that this can be an unspoken appreciation, I am not suggesting that one get too personal or involved in the prospects life! Just stay in the wonder of who they are and what can transpire for both parties that are interacting on the phone! You may be the student and learn a great deal from your prospect and vice versa!
• Find out what your prospect is looking for and how you might be able to help them find or provide an answer to their need! That is exciting because you are able to be of service and from your call may totally change the individual’s outcome in their life! Often when we come from a place of service we find so much more receptivity to what we are offering! When my prospect warms up to the call because of my ability to get them something they needed it can be very excitng!
Building habits and behavior patterns that serve you as a person and as a business owner is critical to your success. Staying aware of who you are and what you want to create is key! For me, I want to create value in someone else’s life and have fun doing it! I want to be able to ring into someone’s life and give them and answer to a problem or concern they might have.
Mastering phone prospecting is a required skill to build a large ML*M organization. Make sure you invest in yourself to create and understand this skill set! Remember that there is life beyond the phone and you also can learn how to create your own leads and have people calling you! There are choices in this business and I recommend whatever you choose to do remember to create fun and congratulate yourself for investing in yourself as you move forward in your business!
