If you’ve heard of fitness figure competitions and aspire to win one or more someday, you probably want to find out what happens at fitness figure competitions. So here’s a sneak peak at what a contestant may face at fitness figure competitions.
Generally, a short swimsuit round is an important event in just about any fitness figure competition. This is where contestants are required to put on a two piece swimsuit and display the various attributes of their physique to the judges’ panel. These demonstrations typically involve the execution of a number of turns including half turns and quarter turn routines. But such routines aren’t only for the judge’s to appreciate, but for the general audience as well.
Modern fitness figure competition guidelines favor a smaller quantity of muscle mass and greater definition for separate muscle groups. This is one of the main barometers by which challengers are judged. As far as the swimsuits worn by participants are concerned, these must hide about 50 percent of the muscles in your buttocks, known as the gluteus maximus. Thongs and or G-strings aren’t usually allowed within the competition.
Once the demonstration is over, participants are asked to display their fitness through different routines such as dance, gymnastics or aerobics. For those who wish not to perform such activities, recent changes in competition structures have introduced a new subcategory called ‘Figure Completion.’ This particular round is where contestants need not perform any of the usual routines and are rated based on muscular tone and symmetry alone. Here too, larger muscles are undesirable.
In one of the main rounds known as the symmetry round, contestants appear before the judging panel in their swim suits and high heels and execute a number of quarter turns to their right, allowing the judges to view them accurately.
Apart from muscle tone and symmetry, judges also take into consideration a host of other factors including make-up, hair, suit style and skin tone in this round.
Usually, competitions are made up of multiple different rounds, but the nature and number of rounds may vary depending on the wishes of the sponsors of the event. Although you may come across several types of fitness figure competitions being organized in different parts of the country, you should know that currently there are two main events which rule the roost as far as prestige is concerned. These two events are the Fitness Olympia Competition and the Fitness International.
In conclusion, there are other great resources for further information on the internet as well, but at least as a starting point, I hope this article goes a long way in encouraging you to someday prepare for and take part in a fitness figure competition. Good Luck!
