There are many subtle video advertising forms in our lives but the one that amazes me most of all in terms of subtlety is promoting the pages of your website by uploading a simple video to the major video websites like YouTube®.

So why does it rank as subtle? The fact is you don’t even need the video you upload to be your own. It can be any video providing you are not infringing copyright. Your website could be about the history of ancient Egypt and the video you use could be about modern day babies having fun and it will still work to draw more visitors to your website using very subtle methods.

By uploading the video you create automatic back links to your website from the highly ranked video sites. YouTube® is the second highest ranked site on the internet and is fully owned by Google; do you think Google will ignore a link to your site from a Google owned site? You bet your last dollar they will take the link seriously.

If you upload a video that is not yours it is natural to assume that people that watch the video have no way of linking it to your site, but the fact that you have uploaded it still enables you to create a back link to your chosen web page. This is where it becomes subtle: When the major search engines spider your site they are always checking the sites that link to your various pages. What they pick up is one-way links from all of these major websites and immediately your chosen page is noted as an authority page on your chosen subject.

As an authority page it is ranked higher in the search engine search so people get to see your page sooner - this sends more traffic your way. That is really subtle video advertising.

Now let’s take this a step further and imagine the affect if you uploaded your own video with the URL of the page you want to send people to printed across the first or final scene of the video. This form of videos marketing is a double edged sword because people that watch the video will become interested in visiting your page. You will also have the benefits of your page getting the valuable back links and raising its position in the search engines.

Already I can hear the groans out there:

- I don’t have a camera.

- I have no idea how to make a video.

- It’s easy for him to talk about it he’s obviously been trained.

- Even if I made a video how the heck do I upload it?

I’ve heard all of these excuses before and as of this week that is all they are - simply excuses - reasons for inaction.

Today there is technology available that will enable you to feed any article into the software and it will convert that article into an animated video, with voice over and background music in a matter of three or four minutes. You even get to choose your own background template to ensure your videos never become boring.

A simple 300 word article will give you a video of between one and two minutes duration. Simply double the duration for a six hundred word article etc.

Imagine making an animated video for all of the pages on your website in minutes simply using the text from the page? Load each video to all 17 or so video sites and imagine the outcome on your page rankings in the search engine. This is online video marketing at its very best. Imagine the sales you will make, the number of people that click on the Adsense ads on your pages? The mind boggles at the newfound power of video advertising.

One other small point is that once you register with each of these video sites the software loads each of your videos automatically creating the back links for your chosen keyword.
