• Be in top shape. This means taking care of your physical health and emotional wellbeing. Even a desk job requires us to be in the best shape possible so we can concentrate on the job, fulfill our tasks properly, and deal with stress when work becomes more demanding. So maintain a well-balanced diet, take vitamins, get exercise as often as possible and if you’re a smoker, start cutting back until you kick the habit.
• Be organized. The state of our work environment can impact our mood. Too much clutter can make us irritable and uninspired – and you can’t stick to these tips for success if you’re always in a negative state of mind. So keep your desk tidy and arrange your things in a way that you know which drawer to pull them out from. For example: keep all writing instruments in the top drawer, paper products like stationery and envelopes in the middle, and sundry office materials like paper clips and staplers in the bottom.
• Keep a journal. This can either be an electronic or traditional bound journal. Choose whichever you prefer and use it to write down your action plan for the following day.
