There are people who have gone to Thailand on a tourist visa with the intention of working without a work permit however if they do find work, they are often underpaid by employers who take advantage of the fact that these illegal workers have no legal support to back them up. These people need to understand that a work permit is a crucial document. In Thailand, working for even just one day without a valid working permit is already considered a criminal offense and one caught doing it will have to pay a fine of 2,000 to 10,000 THB and/or be imprisoned for up to five years.
