It’s Friday night, you had a long week at work and now you’re ready to go out and have some fun. You call up your friends and it’s no shocker when they tell you they are already at the bar. A new bar just opened up down the street from your house and that’s where they happen to be. You jet home from your office space in Tucson, do a quick change and head on over.
To your surprise, as soon as you step foot in the newly revamped place, you are instantly transported into a well designed and thought-out atmosphere. You know the type of place that makes you feel right at home, where you can kick up your feet and be yourself? These types of bars do exist; it just often takes some searching. Do you have your favorite “local spot” and if so, what makes it so special? I know for me: the location, the size, and overall vibe are a few factors that keep me coming back for more. Let’s take a closer look at these.
Location
Some people don’t mind driving half way across the city to meet a few friends and have a drink. Me, no thank. First off, you shouldn’t be driving if you are going to be drinking. Second off, if you can’t drive, and your friend’s are unable to get you, why would you want to spend $20 on cab fare? Wouldn’t that tap into your drinking money? So, if you can walk to the place from your house, then I would say that’s the ideal. The more walking you can do, the better, especially if you are already trying to shed some pounds and are on the HCG diet. Also, you never know what interesting things you may see along the walk, especially on your way home at about 2 a.m.
Size
The places that are smaller and more intimate have always drawn me in. I don’t care to get lost in a huge crowd, but hey, maybe you do. The bigger the place is, the greater the chance is of getting lost from your friends by the end of the evening. Also, smaller places tend to be cozier, more personal, and friendlier in my experience. It really depends but most times the smaller joints will have better deals on drinks and they often tend to be stronger.
Vibe
Vibe is the overall feel of the place. When you walk into it does it feel casual and laid back, or does it feel snotty and uptight? There are people out there that enjoy going to both of those places or one over the other. I have always enjoyed the ones that are casual and laid back. If I’m going out to have a drink and meet with friends then that’s my sole purpose. I don’t want to spend hours getting ready and worrying about what to wear because the dress code just to get in is “super posh”. Of course the bartenders and waitresses there are always dressed to impress and honing their silky soft hair, but hey, would you expect any less?
All-in-all each place out there is unique in its own ways. We all have our favorite local spots that we enjoy for our own reasons. What I may like about one place, you may hate about it; but what we need to remember is that the sole purpose of these places are to have a good time and enjoy other’s company.
