When you go anywhere; the mall, a walk-in clinic, school, work or even an air show; what does everybody have in common? What are they all wearing that is a common thread between them? They are all wearing t-shirts of course. One might be for an ACC basketball team while another might be the world famous logo of a worldwide favorite soft drink and another might be a local garage band that was printed on a black t-shirt in the back of some warehouse after a night of partying.
The point is that everybody, from all walks of life, every ethnicity and every background will wear t-shirts. Sure, they may have different things on them, different things printed on them, but they are all basically the same thing and have the same properties in common. The reasons people wear them are universal and it doesn't matter where you go, people will be wearing them. They wear them because they are comfortable, affordable and because they allow the wearer to express what they like and who they like. T-shirts are also a way to bond with perfect strangers.
That is why if you are walking in downtown Pittsburgh wearing a Cleveland Browns t-shirt and you pass a complete stranger wearing a Cleveland Browns t-shirt, you wave at each other and give a head nod. You have instantly made a new friend in a hostile environment and know who you can count on if you need any help. The same rings true if you are wearing a shirt with your favorite band, if you see someone else with the same shirt you have an instant connection. Not only this, but t-shirts are very comfortable and very affordable.
Being affordable it what makes them attractive for use as advertising. Companies and organizations like to use t-shirts to put their names and logo on and use as giveaways because they work great as an advertising tool. They are also very cost effective because they will be seen by a large group of people and they will be seen over and over again because unlike flyers or pamphlets, they are not thrown away once they are read.
People will wash them and wear them over and over again. That is why if you so use a t-shirt for advertising not to pick the cheapest quality shirt to use. You want the product to last so that it will continue to advertise for you.
