Focus. Just for a few moments. When was the last time you did ALL 3 of these?

1.Turned off the volume on your PC/MAC

2.Closed your email (and twitter and facebook and stumbleupon and…) disabled all web alerts!

3.Turned off your phone or Blackberry and put it in a different room in a sound proof lock box and swallowed the key!

A total disconnect from modern life. I hear your cries of protest. But I like my modern life I could not live without any 1 of those items you mentioned.

If we cannot focus and cut through the onslaught of chaos in our daily life for just 1 hour per day, how can we hope to write and submit sufficient, high quality articles to drive that traffic we all seek to our websites with our Article Marketing strategy?

As with everything quality speaks volumes over quantity. YES! Even in the world of link building evangelists, a great article that is read over and over has the propensity to produce far superior results to many poorly written, un-read articles.

Write your articles to be the best they can and be prepared to approach Article Marketing as you would prepare for any business endeavor you undertake to generate profit.

Lessons To Learn

Lesson #1:- Bio Box. Your Bio or Resource Box is your promotional opportunity, for each one of your great articles. If you don’t get this right, then forget about Article Marketing, period.

As your readers will normally see this after reading your article...I will wait why you go and review mine…this is the moment of truth for your Article Marketing Strategy.

That 1 hour that you disconnected from the world and deprived yourself of your technology to write your articles, gets to pay you back in your Resource Box.
Get a great result, lots of link clicking, and it may alleviate some of the pain from passing that key too!

Keep it short and sweet. They have just ready 800 words, they don’t want to know that Once Upon A Time you rescued a dog from a well. How does that help them make a decision to find out more about your offer?

* Tell them What You Have And Where To Get It wrapped in 1 or 2 short sentences about you.

* Give them something for their trouble, but make it as good as your articles.

* Use 1, maybe 2 links maximum. Too many choices and you’ll blow it! They’re off, they’re suspicious, you lost them.

Lesson # 2: - Article Length. 400 words is tool little, and some article sites have minimum length requirements too. What can you really tell the reader about your topic and your opinion in 400 words that will bond them sufficiently with you to trust your link(s) in your bio?

1500 words is too many and your article is too long, unless it is highly technical and needs a lot of pre-requisite understanding to read the article. If that is the case maybe a Technical White paper is a better format.

I like to target 800-1000 words as my sweet spot. Long enough to create a connection with your reader and explain your point of view, short enough that the reader can finish it comfortably and still want to know more.

Lesson # 3: - Soft Sell. Most people can spot a sales pitch and most people are willing to listen, or read in our case, so long as there is a benefit to them for the time expended to read.

You think you’re busy, think about your reader too. I like to call it reciprocal respect.

This is how the reader’s internal dialogue plays out: OK Mr. Author, I know you want to sell me something, I’m alright with that because I make my own buying choices.

Be careful Mrs Author and be warned, you better give me something, even some small artifact, term, phrase that I can take away with me. If I’m giving you 5 minutes of my life to read this, you give me 5 minutes of value, or else!

The -or else- is no link click and no additional enquiries into the other great articles you have written.

Lesson # 4: - Link Strategy. Some article sites let you pepper you article with links throughout your articles.

Given that the Internet was originally used in this way which allows humans to search and seek information intuitively by clicking when we find what we want to know more about, this sounds like a great idea.

In reality we know what happens when utilizing Article Marketing, every joker wants to put links to their website in their articles.

So article sites have rightly introduced restrictions in this regard. They differ from site to site so be aware before you submit.

But if you can add an outside link that genuinely enhancing the information you are providing or provides a reference for additional information, not sales opportunities, then put it in. It could make your article a great resource for many people, and get read.

When considering links to your website use that Resource Box or bio box. Keep these separate. 1 is for the reader, 1 is for you (and later the reader)

Lesson #5: - Accumulation – OK, I know I said it wasn’t about quantity but just for a moment focus and really imagine the impact that all of your articles will have if they are all great articles!

And because all your great articles will stay online on these articles sites for as long as they are operational, Article Marketing presents an opportunity unlike any other for linking longevity and authority.

If you are spending 1 disconnected hour every day writing your great articles, don’t waste your time by having to continually resubmit to meet the article sites rules.

Learn These Lessons Well.

Well, that’s my hour up for the day, cant type any more, need to get my tech fix.
