If you are suffering or have suffered with painful feet you will know just how unpleasant an experience this can be. Your feet are an absolutely essential component of your health and well being. Treat your feet with tender loving care and they will reward you in turn with years of faithful, pain free service. Just follow these simple guidelines for healthy, happy, pain free feet.

1) Wash your feet daily.

Do make sure you wash between the toes and right under the nails. Clean feet help prevent all sorts of nasty conditions forming and are a crucial component in avoiding foot problems

2) Completely dry your feet after bathing.

Again, get right between the toes when drying. Remember that damp feet can often provide a breeding ground for bacteria and odor. This is especially pertinent if you engage in sporting activity as changing rooms can prove extremely effective breeding grounds for foot problems.

3) To avoid dry, cracked foot skin, be sure to massage a good thick lotion into your feet both in the morning before you dress and again before you go to bed at night.

4) Include a little foot powder in your shoes each day - this will assist in absorbing perspiration.

5) Inspect your feet daily for blisters, corns, callouses, verrucas, or other problems and treat promptly.

Remember prevention is better than cure. This is extremely relevant if you are on your feet all day or play a lot of sports and use communal changing rooms. Instigating a daily regime of checking your feet will pay dividends for long term foot health.

6) If you are overweight, do consider shedding some pounds.

An excess of weight contributes considerable pressure to your already stressed feet. Your feet will reward you if they don`t have to work so hard! Think of it as actually accruing incremental gains - you do not have to lose all of the excess weight at once. Rather every little bit that you lose means that your long suffering feet do not have to work so hard

7) Treat yourself to a weekly "feet treat."

Massage your feet with warmed oil mixed with a few drops of essential oils. Good ones are lavender, eucalyptus, or peppermint. This will help you to relax an de-stress your feet.

Remember a little loving care and attention goes a long way towards promoting and maintaining health, happy, pain free feet.Neglect them at your peril. Look after your feet and they will reward you in turn.
