3. Ask them for references, if the company is really good one, they must have few references in countries like USA, UK, Canada etc.

4. Ask for their web development portfolio, In fact ask them that show the evidence that they have done what they are showing you, because portfolio could be copied from other sources on internet.

5. When they start project, ask them that you should be introduced to their designers and developers. They all should communicate by company email id. Sometimes few individuals do not have team with them so they outsource to other freelancers, so if they are freelancers, they wont have company id.

6. When you talk to their resources, ask some questions like how long you have been with this web development company? What is your qualification?

7. You should be paying the companies through reliable sources used for business, western union or something that deals in cash is not advisable to trade for serious projects, a serious software company will tell you to trade with them by bank or by paypal.

Try above tips and you will be reducing the chances of being cheated by non company individuals.
