The Stavronikita is a wrecked Greek Freighter that sunk back in 1978 and can be found just off the coast of Barbados at Fitts. The ship itself is still relatively intact as it's only been there for just under 30 years.
Stavronikita is more of an advanced diving site than the others mentioned so far and requires previous training annd scuba diving experience. This is a dive of varied distance from 20 to 130 feet with the mast of the "Stav" (as it's known my local divers) starting at 20 feet. This in itself is an illusory experience as schools of Sergeant Major fish weave around the mast caught in the twinkling sunlight filtering from the surface above.
At a slightly deeper level further down around the bottom end of the mast you will see lots of groupers and snapper fish. Black coral and sponges have long since taken hold and grown onto the deck of the Stavronikita and on a scuba dive through the cabins you could undoubtedly observe lots more intriguing marine life including sea whips.
Just beyond the Stavronikita ia a fabulous reef called Silver Bank that again is home to a huge amount of ocean life including spotted moray, barracuda, cavali, snapper and a number of brightly coloured smaller fish that dart in and out of the crooks and crannies of the coral reef.
Located on the luxurious West Coast in St. James Parish, immediately adjacent and with views over Westmoreland Golf Course on one side Crossbow Villa also enjoys unequalled panoramic ocean views on the opposite side. Total privacy, nestled in half an acre of beautiful tropical gardens including lawned areas and many typical Bajan plants and flowers. Crossbow villa also benefits from cool breezes that you will find most welcome as you bask in the year round 82 degrees beautiful Barbados Sun.
