1. The first point to remember is to never keep children or pets in the kitchen. It is okay if the child is helping you out, or is interested in learning to cook. Pets and kids are not only distractions, but they also hurt themselves by putting down hot pots and perhaps tripping you when you work in the kitchen.
2. Never hold babies or children in a kitchen; it is not worth the risk. Make sure you enforce a rule for children to respect the kitchen. So don’t encourage any horseplay or fighting in the kitchen.

Instead, use hot pads or oven mitts, especially when you are removing stuff from the microwave. Never use hot pads or wet clothes to lift hot vessels as they transmit heat.
7. Never enter a kitchen if you don’t know how to handle knives. Knives have to be treated with respect. Make sure your knives are always sharp as blunt ones may slip and cut. Always chop with your free hand holding the food and your cutting hand curling its fingers around the knife. Quick chopping is not advised till you confident enough to do it.
8. Kitchens should always be dry to prevent unnecessary accidents. So wipe up spills immediately to not only prevent accidents, but also to make your kitchen cleaning time shorter. Be careful of not only water, grease and food, but also of cooking sprays. They make the floor slippery when sprayed on the floor.
