Armpit perspiration is acceptable when one is working out, jogging, or doing chores around the house as it's expected. But when sitting at a desk, watching a movie, or going out with friends it's a self-conscious issue not wanting others to notice the wetness or odor.
To those who suffer from this condition there are a couple of common goals to reduce the wetness or at least the appearance of wetness and secondly to reduce the odor. There are some things that can be done to help reduce armpit perspiration.
One easy fix to this problem is using an armpit pad, guard, or shield. These go by a variety of names but are all the same concept. It's a pad and sometimes material sown into an undershirt that's designed to soak up sweat and dry out as quickly as possible. The benefit is that if a piece of clothing happens to get wet with sweat, it might as well be one underneath as opposed to the visible layer to others.
Odor is a difficult side effect of sweating to deal with. Bacteria in sweat is what causes the odor. Reduction of bacteria will get rid of the odor or help reduce it. Take a bath or shower, especially before going out, and use antibacterial soap on the problem area making sure that all the bacteria or as much as possible is cleaned out. Sweat is still going to smell, but it's better than the smell of sweat plus bacteria.
Sometimes antiperspirants by themselves aren't enough. If they were, then that would be the end all solution to armpit sweating issues. It's necessary to make a few changes to help reduce sweating. Getting properly hydrated will help reduce sweat by regulating internal body temperature. Regular exercise will help reduce body mass and improve circulation. Avoiding certain types of food like spicy foods will prevent extra sweating while out on a social outing.
