With Eminent production values, colourful visual style and outstanding cast, POKER KING surely is an gratifying movie success. It gives a lustrous, starry enactment of Macao and even when it does discuss the opened financial division between the rich and the poor of the city, it seems everyone still lives in luminous, ventilated apartments and slumbers on fresh bed linen with a self-satisfied grin on their face.

Famous Chinese language director Chan Hing-Kai and producer Chan Hing Kai and Janet Chun has high hope in this movie. The movie tackles not only the poker tournament or the rivalry but also the lead actor's struggle to become a better person. It was portrayed by the most popular pop stars and Chinese Actors: Louis Koo, Sean Lau Ching Wan, Stephy Tang, Cherrie In and Josie Ho.

Jo Koo played the role of Jack, the heir of a powerful empire casino in Macao which is presently operated by Uno played by Lau Ching Wan. After Jack father's die, he realized that his share to the business was already lost because Uno made his move on taking over the business as the sole owner.

Soon enough, Jack meets a young woman named Smiley played by Stephy Tang. Jack consider this young woman as his lucky charm in entering the Asian Poker Tournament and winning back those that really belongs to him. To start the initial plan, Jack acts to match casino owner, Ms. Fong (Josie Ho), to support him.

In front of the final battle both Jack and Uno. Who will embellish the title Poker King?
It is a winner-takes-all poker battle between the two.

Jo Koo go along his total supremacy of 2009, coming into something like his thirty seventh film this year. His acting execution here is as brilliant and seeming as everything that encircles him, adding his collection of progressively silly flushed bow ties. Lau Ching Wan even twists his personality in a outstanding comic character as Uno, at once covetous, unblushing, and yet rather appealing. You can a count the dainty supporting role for Josie Ho, causing up her real life character as a shrewd Macanese heiress, who makes up for the innocuous wet blanket that is Stephy Tang. A numerous cheeky cameos from the likes of Lam Suet and Cheung Siu Fai can be count.

Following the proven formula applied in the “God Of Cookery”, Poker King definitely hit the winner takes all publicity it needs. Poker King has a couple of respectable laughs along the way and it is a fairly safe bet if you see the movie for yourself. It maybe lined up with the Hollywood movies Such as Casino Jack and Casino Royalle but believe that this movie has a high quality on its own.
