When it comes to what’s right for you and your perm, look out for shampoos and conditioners dedicated to ‘treated’ hair and don’t just pick up the products that are on 3 for 2, chances are they’re on offer for a reason or they just don’t match your hair type. But as with everything, the most expensive isn’t necessarily the best, in a lot of cases it’s trial and error, so if you’ve got a friend with similar hair, ask to try hers and see if you like it, it’ll save you some money that’s for sure. The other option is to find out what products your hairdresser uses when you go in there and search for them online. Hairdressers sell branded products at marked up prices as a way of making extra money, so it’s a much better option to search online.
Certain brands specialise in certain types of products or do specialist ranges. Take Tigi hair care products for example; they do a catwalk collection, a bed head collection and a diamonds collection – all of which do different things, from adding glamorous volume to defined curls and shiny, healthy locks. But back to the perm, it can really dry your hair out if you don’t look after it, so think of it as a long term investment and nurture it with professional hair care products.
