Overview
Rated among the top ten luxury trains in the world, the Palace on Wheels starts every Wednesday at 6 pm from Delhi. Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) and Indian Railways together launched this royal and luxurious heritage train to provide the tourists with a unique and memorable experience.
Facilities
Palace on Wheels is synonymous with luxury and comfort. The best part lies in the 14 air-conditioned saloons of the train that are named after the princely states of Rajasthan – Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, Kota, Jhalawar, Alwar, Bundi, Sirohi, Dungarpur, Dholpur and Kishangarh. Every saloon showcases the culture of its respective state through traditional furniture, handicrafts, painting and furnishings.
Two restaurants cum kitchen cars, one bar cum lounge, four service cars etc. are a few other added amenities. Palace on Wheels lets you experience a class of luxury equivalent to the Rajput Kings. Fully furnished and intricately designed saloons are attached with bath and shower, and tourists can spend some quality time in the lounge, library or bar.
The guests are provided with personal attendants, khidmatgars, for their service in typical Rajasthani style. The restaurants / kitchen cars serve a wide range of traditional Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisines with the Chef's special variety of the day. Tourists can enjoy piped music in every saloon, and the train has provision for interesting games for the children.
Laundry, doctor on call at each station, barber shop & beauty parlour etc. are a few facilities that can be availed on request.
