The day I asked that question I was at the gym, the doctor is very prominent in our area, and we always chat. The reason I asked him that question was because I have a passion to get people to quit smoking. The night before I was at a bar and my eyes were irritated of all the smoke that was in that place, not to mention I now had to pay $45 to get my suede jacket dry-cleaned. It was horrible, in my head I was fishing for an answer and I thought he was going to say cigarettes, you know what he said? He said "Sugar", and the reasoning behind that follows:
Today's Consumption: Today, an average American consumes 2-3 pounds of sugar each week. While at the end of the 19th century (1887-1890), the average American consumed only 5 lbs. per year.
Health Problems: Simple sugars have been documented to contribute to and/or aggravate health problems, including: asthma, mood disorders, mental illness, nervous disorders, diabetes, heart disease, gallstones, hypertension, and arthritis.
Cancer Culprits: Turns out that cancer's preferred fuel is none other than glucose. Controlling one's blood-glucose levels through diet, exercise, supplements, meditation and prescription drugs - when necessary - can be extremely important to a cancer treatment program. Do you really want to eat and drink your way to cancer? Why would you go through all this? Just because you want some sugar in your coffee? Think about that for a second
Degenerative Disease: Sugar has no real nutritional value (minerals, vitamins and fiber) and as a result, has a deteriorating effect on the endocrine system, causing sugar consumption to be one of the 3 major causes of degenerative disease.
Many people are addicted to sugar. Do you even know how much sugar you are consuming, the big massive companies have their tricks, it's hidden in so many foods with different names. Are you addicted to the culprit?
Fewer Blood Sugar Spikes Help You Live Longer If you live large—big meals, lots of beer, little moderation—you may be shortening your life even if your weight is okay. Too many blood sugar spikes stress the organs that make up the metabolic engine of your body. That takes a toll. And you might not notice
All of us need to cut down on our sugar intake, I recently read on article written by Steve Nash the NBA player and future hall of famer, he wanted to stay health so he can keep up on the court he is getting a little older(35) So he went to see a Dr. Suneil Jain, Jain pushes a whole-foods diet, one that consists of lots of raw fruits and vegetables. Also he really stresses how important it is to cut sugar out of your diet. This is what Steve says after he cut the sugar out " The difference was instantaneous: I slept better, I recovered from workouts more easily, and I had more energy. When we started training camp in September, we were doing two-a-days — four or five hours on the court — and I never got sore. Even more telling is the fact that this summer I traveled all over the world for my foundation, bringing team sports to war-ravaged countries. I was missing out on sleep and still training the whole time, but I never got sick. I've got to think it's because sugar wasn't wearing me down. No doubt, this lifestyle is not easy — sugar gets sneaked into just about everything, so I have to pack my own food. But it doesn't bother me, because the way I feel is so worth it."
It is crazy how much we consume, the only thing sugar should be used for is to make gas, I know that's extreme but they use it in Brazil for their substitution for gas. If you can't quit as an adult please do not addict your kids to it, the child obesity issue in America In case reports limited to the 1990s, Type 2 diabetes accounted for 8 to 45 percent of all new pediatric cases of diabetes, in contrast with fewer than 4 percent before the 1990s. ("Preventing Childhood Obesity: Health in the Balance, 2005," Institute of Medicine.) Do you think sugar has anything to do with that?
Thanks Doc, he really shocked me with the answer to that question, but he really opened my eyes to the danger of that cheap mass produced junk!!
