Of all the auto accident related deaths, almost 60 percent were seen as being due to a vehicle leaving the roadway. More than half of the passenger vehicle occupants that were killed were not wearing a seat belt, or were not using a child safety seat. There were a total of 136 motorcycle deaths, with 102 of those not wearing a helmet at the time.
In 2004 there were 190 fatalities involving large trucks and tractor trailers. Ohio is ranked fourth worst in the nation under Pennsylvania, Michigan and Illinois for having the most deer related auto accidents. Use your high beam headlights when near or in deer prone areas so that you have more time to react to deer hiding on the side of the road.
