There was I, sailing along, at the age of thirty four, having had scarcely a day's unwellness in my life, when I abruptly felt severe pains in my neck and lower back area. Only a glitch, thought I, acquire some heat treatment cream and that will fix it. Wrong! Thus off I go and pay a rare visit to my Dr. and he states I have Ankylosing Spondylitis. As he did not seem too concerned about it I did not think much of it, but it did turn out to constitute a life altering diagnosis.

Ankylosing Spondylitis, for those which do not know is one of the umpteen forms of arthritis and could impact both males and women. I did not take it overly seriously as I was still able to go about my daily business and I associated arthritis with being disabled and possessing deformed hands etc. It shows how uneducated I was at that time in regards to rheumatic or arthritic complaints.

So my doctor prescribes special tablets, which in all honesty were not much use and I return to same doc and he prescribes some other tablets, again not very much use. This carries on for several years, some tablets being stronger than others, but none of them truly killing the pain. And then, after suffering varying degrees of pain for about fifteen years I eventually acquired something which is a better painkiller for my complaint than any drug.

Enter the Tens Machine.

These simple machines arrive in several models, but they all operate by emitting tiny electrical pulsing of changeable intensity through pads arranged on the body which subdue the pain signaling being beamed to the brain. These electrical pulses also increase the output of the body's innate painkillers called endorphins.

The tens machine model I have was moderately affordable to buy, and is low-cost to run. The chief cost, being the replenishment of the pads as they only have a finite life. Alright, so it's not a remedy, but if it blocks out the pain and helps me catch some Z's at night, I'm happy. These simple machines, apparently, may supply relief for all sorts of muscular and joint pain. I can't warrant that it will work for your specific ailment, but it is unquestionably worth a crack. I wish I had come across Tens Machines years ago.
