The fashion industry sometimes has a criteria that women models have to be in the height range of 5'7' to 6' or 6' plus. For men the height must be 6'or 6' plus. One may also get the opportunity to act in television programmes or films. Fashion models can also find jobs in areas such as television modelling, and this involves modelling for television commercials, films, videos, internet and the like. Modelling for video and films sometimes requires that the fashion model knows some action and dance. To become a successful television model, a natural flair for acting will prove to be an advantage. In print modelling, fashion models will have to pose for still photographs that can be used in press advertisements, fashion brochures, different kinds of fashion magazines and catalogues, calendars and the like. Fashion models in the print media need to work with many agencies and fashion photographers.
Models involved in showroom modelling work generally for fashion clothing exporters, fashion garment manufacturers and garments retailers and display the latest trends in the world of fashion. Ramp or catwalk models involved in live modelling work display these fashion garments and accessories in front of a very live audience. This may sometimes be at an exhibition or at a fashion show or even at an automobile showroom, or its point of purchase. Ramp models should have confidence, poise, good posture, gait and prominent body language.
