It shows that 11 million drivers lie on their car insurance so their claim will not be refused and despite the fact that this can make your policy void, many people still do it. Asked what they would do in the event their car was broken in to there was a mixed reaction; a third said they would lie to avoid not being able to claim, a third said they would tell the truth and the final third were undecided.

This also has an affect on other drivers as this pushes the price up when fraudulent drivers are claiming successful. The survey also shows men are more likely to lie on their insurance with 39% of men willing to bend the truth compared to just 26% of women.
