For the sake of argument, let's say that you already have some experience with selling products on eBay. Perhaps you've cleared out some of the clutter around your house and are now considering taking your selling to the next level. Maybe you already own an eBay shop but you are struggling to maximise your eBay selling profit. It's time to take your profit margins to the next level by creating a specific business plan, designed to help you through every step of your journey. Don't ever underestimate the importance of having clear goals in mind when it comes to your eBay business. Without them you will struggle to ever get your sales off the ground.
With that in mind, let's consider everything that you will need to think about to increase your eBay selling profit from this very day forward.
What are you selling?
The product that you have for sale is all important when it comes to making money online through eBay. There's a saying that insists that there is no point in pouring time and effort into selling into a gap in the market if there is no market in the gap. You might think that your toenail clippings are sure to sell well, but don't be positive that others will share your opinion.
It's not difficult to discover if people are buying the item that you are selling. Use eBay's Advanced Search to look for similar items for sale on the auction website, and how much they are selling for to help you to calculate if this particular product will be worth your investment.
How are you selling it?
Whether you are already selling items on eBay, or simply planning to start soon, it is important to have a formula for how you will actually go about selling your items. Will you sell products at auction? Or simply with a Buy it Now price? Perhaps you'll utilise a combination of the two. Different tactics will certainly work for different products, and it might be a case of trial and error until you find the perfect strategy for you, but that doesn't mean it's not important to consider.
You should also think about the best days and times to end your auctions, appropriate starting bid prices and / or reserve prices and even how best to write descriptions that will sell your items well, while directing people to your eBay store should they desire similar wares.
What are your short and long term goals?
You need to be realistic when setting yourself goals for your eBay selling profit. They need to be achievable and measurable so that you can see progress along your journey. While your long term goal might be to become a millionaire through your efforts, you should be aware that you are highly unlikely to reach that goal within one week!
Instead, set some short term goals detailing the amount of money you will be earning within 6 months, and then within a year. These goals will give you something realistic to aim for, and once you get there you will feel an enormous sense of achievement that will push you forward to reach your next goal.
It might not seem like a big deal, but having a business plan detailing how you will achieve the eBay selling profit that you desire will make a big difference to you. Here's to your selling success!
