What Is The Make Break Point Of Mike Dillard's Magnetic Sponsoring?

A notably successful network marketer by the name of Mike Dillard wrote the book Magnetic Sponsoring.

In various recordings Mike Dillard explains that he initially wrote Magnetic Sponsoring with the intention of providing some solutions to some of the problems the other MLMers on his team were facing..

It was observed that Magnetic Sponsoring was producing results withing Mike Dillard's own team and apparently this information began to circulate around and provide help to other marketers, and eventually came to be sold as an income product by Dillard.

While it is not my intention here to rehash all the concepts in Magnetic Sponsoring, as you can get the book and read it yourself if you your interested, there are a few concepts that I wanted to go over, and some observations about how this applies to marketing you business, and also to current trends in the industry that I wanted to comment on.

Basically, the idea that there are certain things that one can do to cause others to be attracted to one, instead of chasing after a group of resistive prospects, is the main point of Magnetic Sponsoring..

In Magnetic Sponsoring Mike Dillard talks about 2 main types of personalities- the Beta and the Alpha. Basically, the Beta is the weaker, less of a leader type, and the Alpha is the strong leader.

He expounds upon the different traits of each and he explains that in order to be “magnetic” to your prospects you must be more Alpha.

Seems like a reverse-psychology. They will want to join you because they perceive that you couldn't care less whether they do or not.
On the other hand, one who is continually chasing a prospect and will not leave them alone about the opportunity, could be perceived as a wanting, desperate, or weak character, and thus not as desirable as a leader to others. The concepts in Magnetic Sponsoring have permeated the MLM marketing industry and are used as the fundamental basis for various lead generation systems. MLM Lead System Pro is a prime example of such a situation..

The entire system is designed to brand you as a leader and thus create an Attractive character and make you “magnetic”.
In the Magnetic Sponsoring school of thought one would not start off by pitching his primary MLM business to a new prospect. This is considered a "no-no"..

The reasoning behind this has to do with the Magnetic Sponsoring datum that for you, as a network marketer, your market is that of other network marketers, or those who want to be in MLM.. These are the people who are reaching for help in building their business, and they already understand the perks of MLM and so don't need to be sold on that concept.
This means that almost everyone you are prospecting is already in their own MLM opportunity.. They are interested in building their business, not in hearing about how great your primary MLM opportunity is.

So you would begin by offering help in the form of training, tools, etc. to help them build their business and this will allow you to position yourself as an authority.. This increases the odds of people joining with you and your opportunity down the road.
So you can provide this help in the form of just teaching them something or referring them to someone who is an expert, or sending them to a book, etc.

And you can profit whether any of them join your primary MLM business or not because you receive affiliate commission on the products they buy.

And now there are so many people, particularly those who have become part of a system such as MLM Lead System Pro, and who have no real accomplishment of their own in this industry, but who have listened to training recordings or read Mike Dillard's book, and are now pretending to be a leader and offering help to others who need it.

This can be funny because there are now so many people online who are pitching their help in the area of marketing but who are not really getting any better results than the people they are offering the help to.

YouTube is inundated with these Attraction Marketing newbies, telling us to ignore our upline's advice and to brand ourselves..

This can be confusing for a newer marketer looking for help as he now has to sort out what is the truth of who is real. And many times there are so many more people presenting themselves in this Attraction Marketing type style than there are people presenting their primary opportunity, that the one pitching their primary becomes the stand-out..

I dare say that on Facebook, any group you join which is an MLM group will have a wall that is absolutely plastered with Magnetic Sponsoring type pitches. “Get 20 Leads Per Day Using Facebook”, is one that you will see over and over again.
Usually, the person posting this stuff isn't generating 20 leads per day on Facebook, and is just new to the concepts in Magnetic Sponsoring.

So we are now being spammed incessantly by “How To Get 100 Free Leads Per Day!” ads, rather than “Best New MLM Opportunity!” ads.

I am not quite convinced that the one is better than the other.

I have a theory about the reason why this Magnetic Sposoring approach works is due to the fact that it is different from the majority of what is being done. In other words, in a situation where you have 100 people pitching you on their primary business and everywhere you go you hear stories about how great their opportunity or comp plan is, and someone comes along in the midst of all that and just says, "Is there anything I could do to help you in your business?", especially if you think this guy does have the knowledge and tools to help you, well, this is a very attractive thing indeed.. Thus the term “Attraction Marketing”.

But really, if you are just getting bombarded 500 times per day with offers for help from so many different people, offers like, “How To Get 20 Leads Per Day On Facebook For Free!”, then it is these help offers which become the spam and the noise and the guy who is left doing something different, which is now pitching his primary opportunity , is the one who seems to have the different and refreshing approach.
A lot of this just has to do with the fact that the social sites are free, Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, and the like, are getting overwhelmed with newbies to network marketing and these newbies are broke so they are abusing the free social media sites to try and get as many leads a possible. .

It is strange because after a group like MLM Lead System Pro puts on a webinar on a particular topic, the next day you are going to get at least 8 or 9 emails from different people all saying nearly the same thing, and they are all making the same type of offer because they all just watched the same webinar the night before.

In conclusion, it would seem that this Magnetic Sponsoring approach would be most effective in situations where the approach itself was rare, not in a situation where everyone and their brother, mother and all their cousins are making the same offers..

But when you have 1000 people all giving you the same pitch saying that they can show you how to get 100 leads everyday from Twitter, or whatever the going pitch is, the stand-out is going to the one doing something different, and it could just be, in that situation, that piching his opportunity would be the most effective thing.
