The fourth largest of the islands, Lanzarote’s landscapes range from the lush and green, to the “Martian” like volcanic remains going into the turquoise waters. This beautiful and tropical island is home to warm temperatures throughout the whole year, and with only an average of 5 and a half inches of rain falling in a whole year you are sure to get a wonderful holiday regardless of where you go.
Lanzarote is the perfect place to head to if you are looking for days full of sun bathing, ice creams, volley ball tournaments and nights full of cocktails, dancing and karaoke. There is a specific balance of Spanish tradition and English influenced tourism. This makes Lanzarote a great destination if you want to head off on holiday with friends. However it also makes it a great place to journey off to on a first family holiday, with the home comforts being on tap but with enough of a difference for you to truly be on holiday.
You will have lots to do if you do want to escape from the beach such as the marine zoos, Rancho theme park, day trips on tall ships, water sports and tours around old Spanish villages where you can pick up a case of traditionally made wine.
There are also plenty of places for families to enjoy a fulfilled holiday too, with family targeted resorts offering children’s activities such as, swimming lessons, mini discos, Spanish dancing etc. There are also day care facilities in case mum and dad want a day away from the kids!
When it comes to accommodation in Lanzarote you will have plenty of choice and the prices are usually very reasonable. You can get some really good rates if you take residence in one of the aforementioned resorts with a family room, which will give you more space too.
