Did you know that your beliefs can and do affect your reality? It is through your beliefs that you perceive the world you are living in. Your behaviour is influenced by your beliefs.
To put it into perspective, imagine you are wearing a pair of sunglasses with green lenses, and I am wearing a pair with red lenses. You and I will see a world that's not the same won't we? Your world will be green and my world red.
The point I want to make here is that you and I are living in the same world, yet because of the colour of our lenses we see a different world. Your behaviours in your green world will be different from my behaviours in my world.
That's how your beliefs manipulate the way you behave. You see your world through your green lenses, through the beliefs that you currently hold. This is why two people in the same setting can have two points of view; they see two different things happening in front of them.
To further expand on this, as human beings we have two sorts of beliefs. We have those beliefs that encourage us and those that do not support us. Those that work against us are called limiting beliefs. On the other hand those that are working with us are called empowering beliefs.
It is generally known that we all got most of our beliefs from our childhood, and added to them other beliefs as we grew older. And these beliefs are still within us influencing our lives.
Since our beliefs are influencing our lives, it is essential that we pinpoint what our beliefs are so we may decide which beliefs are supporting us and which are not. And once we find those that do not support us, we must set a course to start removing them.
Your life will not change if you have limiting beliefs working against you.
If you want more money, yet you have the limiting belief: money doesn't grow on trees, you will not get a significant amount of money. Also if you have a belief that rich people are tight-fistedmisely, again, that belief will keep you away from making the money you want.
So, using money as an example, let's say you want more money in your life, you will need to change your negative beliefs around money. Chances are you will not make the money you wish for until the beliefs have been eliminated. If you are jammy enough to win the lottery and have $5 million dollars come your way, chances are you will be back where you started, if not worse off, within a short number of years.
Why? Because your unsupportive beliefs are still there. They're still influencing your life in the background.
The great news is that beliefs can be eliminated, and you should make it a daily practise to change as many limiting beliefs as you can. That's if you want a better life, where you can have all that you want; where you can live your dream life.
Your beliefs are not real and they can be eliminated. Beliefs are simply a way you interpret life through your green lens. Take off your sunglasses and buy a new pair of blue tinted lenses and you will see a whole new world, from a whole new perspective.
A great routine I discovered which I use every time a limiting belief surfaces is I challenge it. For example, if the limiting belief, "I hate this world I live in," surfaces I immediately challenge it. I say things like, "Yeah says who? I have great friends, a roof over my head, food on the table, I go to the bar every weekend, I have two computers…"
Get the idea. This is a very powerful tool. If possible, confront your unsupportive belief in front of a mirror looking directly into your eyes, and add emotion to it. Holler at that limiting belief. You'd be surprised how swiftly it will go away. You might not see instant results; you will be weakening it each time you challenge that belief, and soon enough it will have no power over you.
And you will have a life that's better than this.
