When first glancing through the specs, this comparison may seem like a no brainer for two reasons. Firstly, the LG Viewty appears to have everything that a mobile phone could possibly require, and secondly, it has all these things and still maintains a pretty slim and sleek profile. Still, a closer look reveals that, as is often the case, first appearances aren't always right, and true beauty is not just skin deep.
Comparing Features of LG Viewty and LG Venus
While on the topic of size, both of these compare pretty well with each other. On a technical basis, the LG Venus is ever so slightly smaller, by a millimetre here and a millimetre there. Perhaps every little bit does count, but to be completely honest, it would take either good measuring or comparing both the phones side by side to notice the difference.
One difference that doesn't take too much to notice however is that of the display screens themselves, where the LG Viewty has a clear advantage. Weighing in at 3 inches, it is a whole inch bigger than that of the LG Venus, and although there is a reason for this that shall be apparent later, a bigger screen generally gives more options to everything from web browsing to viewing pictures.
Speaking of pictures, the cameras that both phones have provide another huge difference. Sadly, the 3 megapixel camera of the LG Venus, despite the autofocus and digital zoom, just can't quite compare to the 5 megapixel camera that the LG Viewty has, with its very own Schneider-Kreuznach lens, autofocus and Smartlight feature that helps out with dark backdrops. Simply put, the LG Viewty provides some of the best image captures that mobile phones have to offer, whereas the LG Venus provides average ability that is by no means nearly as good.
One of the biggest differences however lies with the user interface itself. Short version is, both the LG Venus and LG Viewty offer similar options of differing natures. Where the LG Viewty has a full touch screen, the LG Venus has a mini panel of touch sensitive buttons that account for the 1 inch lesser display size. Although the touch screen of the LG Viewty is a great feature, so too is the panel that the LG Venus has. Most notably, the panel of the LG Venus morphs its icons according to function, displaying only those connected to the task being performed at any given time. This range, coupled with the slide-out keypad on the LG Venus that, again, the LG Viewty does not posses, allows for entirely new options in usage, and increased flexibility.
Whether or not the user interface itself is reason enough to justify the LG Venus' lesser features when compared to the LG Viewty is up for debate. No matter how it is put however, the LG Venus does have its very own attractive features despite being on a lower scale of technology than the LG Viewty. In the end, which is better is a matter of personal choice.
