Smart Phones have gotten smarter, but have they gotten smarter than they should? Have they become too smart for their own good? They offer so many options and so much information, however in recent controversies, it has been said that they even track what the user is doing. It doesn’t just keep track of who you call, what websites you visit, but it can even take photos of where you happen to be located and where you travel.
Users do not like being tracked in that way, and one of the biggest providers and culprits is Apple and they have recently announced that they have taken out and modified the way that the programs work so that this no longer occurs. Most people couldn’t imagine living without their smart phones, but this tracking, this invasion of privacy is not something that they willingly signed up for. Now, if it was written into your contract and they asked permission for some sort of marketing or advertising research project, it would be a different story.
These phones are amazing pieces of technology, and each week it seems something new and revolutionary is released. It's a huge market, and manufacturers and developers can’t afford to anger any segment of their customer base. It is not good business and it can come back to haunt them in the future. These phones offer nearly as many features as a laptop did five years ago. They are nearly as fast in processing power online and the newer versions can run multiple programs at once.
They are great for making phone calls of course, but they really are much more than that. Most men and women use these phones as their electronic connection to the rest of the world. All of their contacts, many of their personal photos and music are stored on the device. It is their connection to their loved ones, friends and business associates. They have become an extension as important, if not more important, than their computers at home and at work.
They allow for mobile working, not having to be tethered to a home base at any given time. When you have the ability to access and respond to e-mail from almost anywhere in the world, it could be considered a blessing or a curse. What pagers and cell phones did is to keep everybody in contact at any given time of the day or night, smart phones are doing the work to keep everyone moving ahead.
