Muslims generally do not have a sound understanding of the teachings of Quran and Islam regarding various aspects of life. Unknowingly, they might be doing something that is not acceptable in their religion. Muslims can easily use Online Quran to learn about the teachings of Islam.
Therefore, some of the teachings of Quran and Islam regarding different aspects of life are mentioned below.
Islamic Perspective regarding Jokes
Joking is not considered a good thing in Islam. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,
"Avoid arguing with your brethren and abstain from excessive joking around."
The Prophet also said,
"I tell jokes, but never excessively tell jokes and never say what is not right."
The Prophet was used to telling nice jokes. An old lady visited the Prophet one day and the Prophet (PBUH) told her that old ladies cannot go to Paradise. The old lady started crying and the Prophet told her that on that day, the old lady will no longer be old. All women go to Paradise young.
Islamic Perspective regarding Making Fun of People
Scholars suggest that making fun of other people is an act that corrupts the tongue. Allah says in the Quran,
"O' ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong." [Sura Al-Hujraat 49:11]
Therefore, Islam preaches Muslims to respect each other in all kinds of social gatherings and meetings. Those who make fun of others are materialistic and materialists respect others for their physical beauty and financial standing.
All physical attributes are in the control of Allah and it is He who blesses some with beauty and others with money. Therefore, Muslims should respect individuals for their moral and ethical values rather than physical attributes.
Islamic Perspective regarding Fake Promises
According to an Islamic perspective, one of the major elements that corrupt a human tongue is a fake promise. A fake promise is one on which the individual does not act. All Muslims should have the attribute of honoring their promises as it is a sign of divine, holy and pious men.
Allah says in the Quran,
"O' ye who believe! Fulfill (all) obligations." [Sura Al-Ma'ida 5:1]
The Prophet (PBUH) also said,
"Making promises is a part of religion."
Islamic Perspective regarding Lying
Islam considers lying a great sin and Muslims are forbidden to lie. Allah likes those who tell the truth at all times. Lying results in a loss of faith. The Prophet (PBUH) prayed to Allah,
"O' Allah! Please purify my heart from hypocrisy, purify me from acts of fornication, and purify my tongue from lying."
Conclusion
The Islamic teachings mentioned above highlight attributes and traits that Muslims may unknowingly act upon. However, Quran learning might help them understand the difference. Individuals can also take online Quran learning classes that can help them understand these teachings.
