Two phones with same set of target audiences- Professionals or high-end groups, namely Apple’s iPhone and BlackBerry Storm.
Apple Inc launched its second generation of iPhone, which was 3G compatible and to counter that many competitors pitched in their products. But Apple shared most of the cons to remain hot in the users fav list like credibility, 3G compatible, stylish, functional, and many others. Even the dominating competitor in this segment RIM faced loss in market share to Apple’s much hyped and over-rated product, as pegged by many.
The latest battle is amongst –RIM’s new entry to Smartphone segment Storm and Apple’s 3G iPhone. The article will list few arguments that why one should prefer Storm over iPhone:
You can change the battery of your Storm with no technical assistance or need of sending it to support center for battery replacement. But this feature is a miss on Apple’s iPhone list. That means with Storm, frequent travelers can keep an extra battery to replace when fully drained but for iPhone users, they have to buy the third party portable charging solutions.
When video recording and shooting pics is the latest interest of consumers, then miss of such feature is a disaster. The medium end phones even support this feature and pixels have reached 8MP. But it seems that Apple Inc is not interested in what is hot among consumer technology. They have not loaded Apple iPhone with video recording option and has limited mega pixels to 2. On the contrary, Storm supports 3.2MP camera and ability to capture video clips.
Apple iPhone, face of new generation still lacks the basic functionality of Bluetooth sharing. With Apple iPhone, users can not listen to the music using Bluetooth, wireless headsets. The phone does not support A2DP Technology. That means, wired handsets are must while listening to music. However, RIM is offering Bluetooth stereo from a long time, so its presence in Storm is obvious.
The other feature that Storm possesses and iPhone misses is Cut, Copy and Paste. The absence of this feature is again a very sorry figure for iPhone users. On the other hand, RIM can be well appreciated on the presence of this feature as it makes tasks easier for the corporate users who frequently share links with other fellow users.
The other very interesting feature that can make consumers to choose Storm over iPhone is the expandable memory. No doubt iPhone is available in two memory versions, 8GB and 16GB. But the cost for this package is pretty high as compared to the BlackBerry with 16GB memory.
Storm comes with 1GB expandable memory on-board which can be expanded to 16GB with microSD card and even pricing is not a bottleneck. Storm with 16GB memory costs $265 against $299 for 16GB iPhone.
Besides these, there are many other options like multi-tasking or tactile feedback of touchscreen that can be looked for and deciding at an overall note that Storm can be a good choice for corporate users.
