A title tag is differentiated from a Meta tag, but it is worth considering it in relation to them. Whatever text we place in the title tag (between the "
" and "") then appears in the title bar of your browswer window when a person view the web page. Some browsers also append whatever you put in the title tag by inputting their own name, like "Microsoft's Internet Explorer".
The text in the title tags is one of the most principal points in how search engines might decide to rank your site. Also, all major web crawlers would use that title tag text as the text they put up for the title of your site in the listing.
Should it be that you have designed your website as a series of linked pages and not just one Home Page, you should bear in mind that each page of your website must be search engine optimized.
The words, page title and key phrases you use in the content will draw traffic to your site.
The unique combination of these words and phrases and content will bring in traffic using diverse search terms and techniques, so you want to be sure you utilize all the keywords and phrases you need for each page.
The number one fault made by small business owners when they first design their website is to put their business name in all page titles. In fact a large amount of of your potential customers will not bother to know the name of your company until after they have investigated your website and determined it is worth book marking.
Though you want your business name in the title spot of the home page, it is almost certainly a waste of valuable keywords and space to put it as the title of every page. Why not consider putting keywords in the title with the effect that whatever page will present closer to the top of the search engine listing.
Leaving those first three slots for keywords in title, and not the stop words like ‘the’, ‘at’ and the like is key relative to search engine optimization.
