So you've just become a Prepaid Legal Associate, or maybe you're in the process of considering starting a Prepaid Legal business of your own. Congratulations! I really do commend you for your hard work. Getting started is the first step toward any worthwhile goal
But what's the second step? And the third? And what comes after that?
Being a Prepaid Legal Associate can absolutely give you the financial freedom you're looking for. The company has a good track record, they have excellent products, and they have very little competition. So why is it that so many people become Prepaid Legal Associates, and never get anywhere?
They never got any sales and marketing education. They get started in their new opportunity, but then they're stuck. Like many multi-level marketing companies, Prepaid Legal hardly does much to instruct their independent business owners in marketing their products or their opportunity. So for new associates who would like a jump-start, here are some pointers:
First, you are required to pinpoint your intended audience. Once you've burned through your personal list, (friends and family, and the list of 1,000 people they make you come up with), choose who you'll target next. Will it be people in your own ZIP code? People you "run into" at the mall? Members of your church? Dentists? Small Business Owners? Felons? You get the point.
Now that you know WHO your target market is, consider what their desires are. The problem with a lot of these home-based business organizations is that they focus on the features of their fantastic products, their fantastic debt-free company, and that they have the "best comp plan in the history of network marketing".
The very basic rules of marketing tell you not to focus on the features, but on the benefits those things will provide to those you're trying to reach. Nobody cares about the gizmos and gadgets. They care about the impact on numero uno. You have to know what those things are, and then you have to get it across to your prospects. Maybe you want to stress protection, or peace of mind, or the fact that they can save money which can then be used vacation with their family. Can you see why choosing your target market first was so worthwhile? If you don't have a limited set of customers in mind, it's exceptionally more difficult to decide which benefits to put emphasis on.
Be someone worth listening to. This aspect should really be at numer one, but many of you would have moved on had I listed it there. See, people, more now than ever, are becoming exceedingly disbelieving. When you're out there promoting your service or your business opportunity, you're also promoting yourself. Even moreso with the business opportunity, who YOU are is so much more crucial than the MLM itself. You've no doubt heard more than once that people only go into business with someone they know, like and trust. How will your future business partners get to know you? If by chance they do become familiar with you , are you an enjoyable human being? You can actually learn how to be likeable, you know. Learn how to be a magnetic personality and don't bother with this business if you aren't trustworthy.
Educate yourself. Yes, you need to understand the compensation plan and the products, absolutely. But the most vital things a Prepaid Legal Associate does, the things that really get them cashing checks, are marketing, selling, and aiding their downline. It's similar in almost any business. So become an expert in those things. If you've just recently started a Prepaid Legal business yourself, you identify with how intimidating it can be. You know that once the thrill of the unlimited opportunity dissipates, the real work starts. When you get frustrated, you look for help from your upline. Well, your downline members have to be afforded the same courtesy. If you're building a relationship with them to make the sale, or to bring them in to the company, they'll look to you when they need help. So educate yourself to know the answers, or at least be able to point them in the right direction.
If you're still unclear about how to get your business rolling, don't worry. My next commentary, on Marketing Your Prepaid Legal Business, will go into more detail of actually marketing techniques to find potential partners, how to get yourself educated, and how to be the Prepaid Legal Associate who ends up on stage at the next event. Keep your eyes open for that training.
