If you are an avid hunter, the chances are you will have already used hunting blinds as a means of keeping you totally hidden from the animals or birds you are hunting. There are different types of blinds for the different terrains, but they all have the same purpose of keeping you hidden, so that you blend in with nature in that particular setting and don't seem out of place. However, you might still want to wear camouflage clothing so you don't stand out like a sore thumb as you make your way to the blind.
Hunting blinds can be made of tent like material, or brick or wood, depending what is available to you in your area, and whether you are a do it yourself type of person. If you are then you will have little trouble putting together a blind of some kind, whether it is a lean to, or a small cabin, or even the coffin blind, which as its name suggests is just a long narrow box that as a hunter you can lie in while you wait for the animals or birds to show. The coffin blind needs to be waterproof if you can manage that, as it is generally placed in marshy areas where ducks like to go.
Once you have built your blind or shelter, you need for it to blend in with the surroundings as much as possible. This is where your creativity can come into play, in making your blind as inconspicuous as possible, with whatever you wish to use. When this is completed to your liking, you can then deal with the inside, making it as comfortable as you'd like, or not, whatever you decide.
If you have built a permanent blind in your favorite hunting area, it makes it easier to add stools or chairs to sit on while you wait for that perfect shot. There is no need to be uncomfortable hunting if you prefer not to be.Depending on the weather, hunting can be a cold and lonely time, so having a few comforts is not unreasonable.
One thing to be aware of before you venture out hunting, is to make sure you don't use a scented deodorant or antiperspirant, as that could alert the wildlife to your presence, even if you are in a blind.
Wildlife is not stupid or unobservant, and they can sense just like we can when something just doesn't seem right.
Building a boat blind can be more challenging, but basically it is nothing more than a kind of tent over the boat you use for duck hunting. If you have aluminum poles and some camouflage fabric, then you could easily whip up a boat blind in very little time. Again, as with all hunting blinds, the ideal is to build something that blends in with the environment as much as possible, which this time will be on the water.
So to summarize, you certainly can go hunting without a blind, but for many hunters, hunting blinds just give that little more protection from the wildlife seeing them, and from the weather too.
