Many people are not aware that not eating too much on the main meals does not mean that they are going to be slimmer and fitter, as long as they consume typical junky snacks. This combination is actually worse. The main meal usually includes something healthy and these people cut the healthy part of their nutrition, exchanging it with chips, cookies, or candies considering them as small bites, and after a while act surprised when they see that have gained some weights.

It is too much to say that these snacks should be totally forbidden, that makes them even bigger temptation, and everything that is forbidden is sweeter, but if you have decided to eat healthy, you must try your best and it is for your own good. It is not bad to take them occasionally but if your snacking goes over your daily calorie limits, you must think twice!
In continuation there will be not some cooking games that give some magic recipes how to drop weights, but some healthy advices how to break these unhealthy habits, and according to these notes, everything is in your head.

Most of the times people are not aware what are they doing, when it comes about the snacks. It’s some kind of an automatic habit and the first challenge is to deal with it. Idea is to start making mental notes throughout the day, so you could stay aware how many times your brain or your body are directing you to snack, even in the moments when you actually don’t feel hungry. And don’t try to smear the things, be honest to yourself for what is happening, the way it’s happening.

Every time when you catch yourself having a thought or urge for a snack, try to detect how do you feel. Is there any feeling of anxiety, stress or anger? Maybe you feel depressed or simply you feel bored. Notice your state and wait for a while, there is a big chance the urges to change, if the physical and emotional sensations change.

You probably feel that these urges are part of you but be aware that actually many of these urges and desires that you feel during the day are not representing you or your aims, so they don’t need to be followed. Think of them as bubbling up from the brain, and stay aware all the other urges and thoughts you resist throughout the day.

The 15-minute rule works on the following way: when you detect the urge for snack, refocus your brain on doing something enjoyable – play a game, go for a walk, read a book, call your friend… Do this activity for 15 minutes, and if you can last 15 minutes, go on with another 15 minutes – in most of the cases the craving will eventually subside.

And to conclude – bad feelings are part of our lives and they show that we need to deal with some situations or change our points of view. Quick fixes like taking junk food fix the problem for few minutes and give us the feeling of pleasure but it often makes things worse over the long term.
