For every legitimate make money online website or service, there are a half a dozen fly-by-night websites and companies that will do nothing more than consume your time and help you dispose of your disposable income -- with nothing to show for it, no less. Scammers, swindlers, and fraudsters are abundant online, and the anonymous nature of the internet only helps to obscure these thieves even more.
However, just because make money online scams abound does not mean that you have to be taken for a ride, nor does it mean that you should avoid trying to make money on the internet -- it just means that you have to identify the potential scams before you throw away time, money, or both. Before we get into how you can identify potentially fraudulent make-money schemes, we feel it's important to touch on one point first.
Hype is not necessarily indicative of a scam
It's highly likely that you've seen late-night infomercials purporting to show you how to make money with real estate, how to make a fortune on eBay, or how to play the stock market and come out ahead each and every time. While we make no claims regarding the validity of these late-night infomercials, there is a common theme amongst all of them that you will see on the internet as well -- hype.
Sales copy and advertisements are supposed to be persuasive, and many overaggressive marketers tend to “lay it on a little bit thick”, as they say. However, just because a website may go a little bit overboard with the hype, does not necessarily mean that the program is a scam, or that you won't make money with that particular program. Bottom line -- some really good programs are unfortunately surrounded by hype.
Now that we have that out of the way, here is a surefire way to identify make money online scams. People, as a whole, have the inherent nature to vocalize their dissatisfaction with just about anything -- whether it is their vehicle that always breaks down, a cheap product they bought at the store, a warrantee that wasn't honored , or website that didn’t deliver what it said it would. Because of this, identifying make money online scams is as simple as using a search engine.
As an example, let's say that you are thinking about joining a company called ‘XYZ Money Maker’. In order to check this company out, and to see if there is any reason for you to be cautious about what this company offers, you can use one of the three following phrases in a search engine to see what others have had to say about this company:
• XYZ money maker
• XYZ money maker scam
• XYZ money maker review
By simply plugging in the company's name, the company's name followed by the word ‘scam’, and the company's name followed by the word ‘review’, you will be able to get a good idea about what other people just like you have to say about this particular company.
Make money online scams are very real threat to uninformed individuals. However, by taking a minute or two to use a search engine to check out a company's reputation online, you can avoid the programs that will waste your time and money so that you can concentrate on the real money-making opportunities that are available today.
