How to Visualize Yourself as a Healthy Person

I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome 24 years ago and I was fifteen at the time, but I knew someday that I would get healthy again. In the fall of 1989 my recovery took a major step forward when I took a psycology course which led me to read a book on the subconsious. It was than that I was introduced to the workings of the mind, and one of the laws stated that whatever was visualized, and then held to be true, would eventually come into existence. In this article I will go over how you can visualize yourself as being healthy and a person with energy to do all the things you want to do.

First write down the description of the type of person you want to become. Now I want you to take this description in the morning time when it is quiet and begin working with visualizaiton. There isn’t one way to do it. I think of its important to realize that everyone learns differently. Here are three ways that you can use:

1. In the morning time sit quietly in a chair in an upright position by a lighted window with your feet planted on the floor with your piece of paper or have the description you want to become conscious in your mind. Look outside, take a deep breath, and begin to internalize the light from the sun. Close your eyes and slowly exhale this light source to all parts of your body. Now begin to visualize what you wrote on the paper. I find if I have problem seeing that person I will just go over the qualities that I wrote one by one. And bring in all the qualities that you have written on the piece of the paper, even small details like seeing yourself looking in a mirror to witness yourself being healthy with the energy you need. Really feel good and happy that you’re creating a new you. Because you don’t want to be uptight about this whole process, just relax and enjoy being you.

2. You can cut out pictures of a person who you want to become and observe that person if you are connected with them by a book or signed up to their newsletter or in person at a speaking event. I became friends with a person who was full of life, healthy, with lots of energy, and she had a joy of trying new things. This helped me to visualize myself as that type of person as I felt the presence of her energy while I focused on those qualities.

3. You can go to a favourite spot you enjoy being in. For me it was sitting on top of a hill looking at the sky, whether it was the stars, full moon, or sun set. I admit I wasn’t a person to get up early to see the sun rise, but when I did, I enjoyed it fully. Another spot was in a quiet spot of beauty like a garden which my mother always had during the summer months. This helped me to understand how much creative power that the universe has and reminds me that I have the ability to create through my mind as well.

You need to repete this healthy image again and again, until you see it as real. And if needed rewrite it as you get a better and clearer picture of the person you want to become. If you’ve been sick for a long period of time, this might be difficult at first. What helped me was to connect with people that loved life and were doing things to keep healthy.

The next step you need to do is to start acting like that person you’ve decided to become. At first it might feel awkward, but it will grow into a habit of doing all the time. I loved to learn and brought that into my visualization by seeing myself doing and accomplishing new things with more energy, strength, love, peace, and gratitude. Give it an honest try and you’ll see wonders. And remember, Everyday and everyway I am getting healthy and I am strong.
