There are lots of affiliate programs. You only want to select the best. Several factors determine affiliate programs belonging to the group you want to select.

1. Find a profitable market. There has to be money made in the market you are selecting. The bigger the market the better your chances of a sale. You can use search engines to find out if there is a lot of demand for the affiliate program you would like to enter. The more searches to find the higher the competition. For an affiliate program high competition is an advantage not a detriment.

2. Commission. How much do you get paid after you initiate a sale? There's a wide range of commissions paid by affiliates. They can range from 5% to 100%. Look for program which is a USD is 50% or more of the sales. All other programs can be excluded.

3. Look at the sales letter. Most important is that the sales letter converts well. It has to convince the reader that the product offered solves he's needs and he has a desire to purchase it. The best way to find out if the sales letter is good (converting) is to read banners by yourself. If you do not feel convinced don't enter this program.

4. Is the offered promotional program sufficient? You should get PPC ads, banners, newsletters, follow-up e-mail letters and possibly an e-book. The purpose of becoming an affiliate is to increase your commission in doing less. You do not want to write sales letters, ads, newsletters, e-books, etc. So make sure that the affiliate is offering a variety of promotional material.

5. The quality of the product in comparison to the price. You have a better chance of promoting the product if you know the quantity is a right and you have checked it out yourself.
