A survey determined that men usually think about where to go for the honeymoon rather than the wedding process itself. There are locations that are better than others, but also ways of shopping for the best deals.

1. Some places are geared towards newlyweds than others. Places like Niagara Falls and Las Vegas are traditional honeymoon destinations, and those places have learned how to cater to those types of couples. There’s not a hotel in either of these cities that don’t have special honeymoon suites, and at a rate that’s not all that much different from the price of a regular hotel room.

2. Make sure your destination offers compatible recreation for both of you. Don’t pick a place where swimming is the main source of recreation if your spouse doesn’t swim. At the same time, if neither one of you spends a lot of time outside, don’t pick a place where that’s what the location is known for.

3. Check the price for where you want to go at more than one source. With the internet, there are so many deals you can get that paying for the first one you come to doesn’t make much sense. Everyone’s competing for your dollar, so why not take advantage of the best deal?

4. If you’re looking to go out of the country, there are many considerations for you to think about. One, you’ll need to make sure your passports are up to date. Two, you might have to make sure your shots are up to par. Three, you’ll need to know what kind of weather to expect. Four, you need to know whether there’s something dangerous going on, such as swine flu or extra-special crime issues. Five, you don’t want to get caught up in a coup (it’s happened). Six, make sure they’re not mad at Americans for some reason. Check the news before planning your trip, just to make sure current events aren’t working against you.

5. If, while checking online, you don’t get to see what the rooms look like, don’t take a chance and book it anyway. Quality places want you to know what they have, whereas places that aren’t so sure aren’t going to share. Still, don’t just trust the images you see online. If you’re laying out good money by going somewhere you’re not really sure about, call the Better Business Bureau in that area and ask some questions.

6. Don’t spend too money on the location. Remember, you still need money for food, gifts and souvenirs, sight seeing, and other fun activities. Get a nice place, then go out and have fun.
