If your goal is to melt belly fat and sport abs that turn heads, you are probably rather confused about how this can actually be achieved. There are many myths and misconceptions that surround the issue of belly fat and body weight. There are also many different plans, ideas and opinions regarding how you melt belly fast and keep it off.

To help you see through the myths and shake the misconceptions, let us nip in the bud some of the biggest myths about belly fat.

Myth #1: Belly fat comes naturally with age and there is nothing you can do about it.

Some people are okay with just accepting their sagging, dimpled anything but attractive bodies as they get older, but you don't have to! Don't let anyone tell you that you are too old to melt belly fat and have an active, well toned body that looks great.

Look at some of the biggest celebrities who are up there in the years but who have amazing bodies. They can do it and so can you.

Myth #2: Crunches and sit-ups are the best exercises to melt belly fat.

If this was true we would all have abs worth a million bucks. Crunches and sit-ups are the most basic form of strengthening exercises for the abdominal muscles, but they are far from the best exercises to melt belly fat.

You have to take a multi-level approach to getting your belly in shape:

1. Burn the fat resting over the abdominal muscles.

2. Strengthen and tone all of the core muscles.

Crunches and sit ups do nothing for the fat surrounding your muscle so they clearly are not the only exercises needed to develop great abs.

Myth #3: You have to invest in expensive equipment or a gym membership to melt belly fat and look great.

You don't need any type of equipment to work your abs to the max. You may want to get an inexpensive stability ball to make some ab movements more comfortable and some moves can be enhanced with light dumbbells, but you can get in a great workout just utilizing the natural weight of your body.
