Making a site is hard for someone new to the Internet. Web programmers and web designers are qualified in what they do and it is challenging for a first time webmaster to attain their level of competence. So, how the soon to be webmaster can put together a professional website without paying for an expert?
There are two solutions for a beginner wanting to make a website without a high level of knowledge in programming or design. The first one, which is the easiest, is to make a blog, but unfortunately blogs are not always the way to go, especially for business websites. The second solution is to acquire a website template with a pre-defined HTML theme where the content can be added.
Blogs are great! What is needed is a domain name with Wordpress installed on a webhosting plan. Working on a blog is easy, after login in into the software, content like text and photos can be added with the help of a form. There are also lots of themes that can be found on the Net and installed at the click of a mouse. Other helpers like plug-ins can provide more functionality to the blog.
In contrary, building a website is more challenging at first. One can use a software like Dreamweaver to build the site and use a File Transfer Protocol or FTP software to upload the files to the server when completed. The most laborious part is to get a design or theme that looks good and professional. Starting from scratch is a damping task for a beginner, but the use of web templates can greatly facilitate the process.
A template is a HTML theme created by a professional web designer that can be purchased for a small cost. There are thousands of them available on the Net, some are free but quality is usually mediocre and a link back to the creator's website needs to be shown in the footer. The template file can be opened in a HTML software, content added and pages duplicated, so the design is consistent for all the website.
It is a common knowledge that templates are bought many times by different webmasters so the theme is not exclusive. Fortunately, there is little chance that you ever see another site using the same template in the millions of websites on the Internet today. Unique content is much more important than unique design as people will revisit a site for what they can experience and learn from it, not the design.
There is still some money to be spent when starting a website, but purchasing a web template will save a beginner hours of trials and errors. The web design being already made, what is left to do is to concentrate on good content.
