Believe it or not, making money selling your photos online is not impossible. There are actually more than a few people making a living out of this, and I am proud to say, I am one of them.
I guess no one is born a photographer, but making some good extra cash every month by doing such a job is something anyone can achieve. If you have a camera and enjoy taking photos of the things and places you find interesting, you can easily submit them to specialized websites and earn a commission whenever someone downloads one of your pictures.
There are two types of specialized websites, actually.
The first type allows you to have your photos submitted and earn multiple commissions from different buyers. The thing is that the buyers know upfront that the photo they buy isn't unique: more people can download it. Even though you can usually earn no more than $1 per download, when you have a few hundred photos submitted, it certainly adds up.
Another type of websites consists of those which provide unique content. That means each of your photos can be downloaded a single time, which is why the price is higher in this case. From my own experience I can say you can expect to make, on average, about $2.5 per photo.
If you spent 2 hours every week playing with your digital camera and took 100 photos per "session", at the end of the month you could have a projected profit of at least $1000. Not so bad for 2 hours a week.
This second method is actually the way I make my money online. It all started a couple of years ago when I "accidentally" managed to get a little more than $10,000 (for 4000 photos I took during my trip to Thailand). Since then, I've been making an average of $3000 per month.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you need no experience to get started in this "business". All you need is a camera and the willing to make some nice money!
