Preparing for ITEC exams can be a very daunting experience for any student. . Completing a large amount of work like this unfortunately means that there may not be adequate study time left to fully prepare for ITEC exams. Therefore it is crucial that you have the necessary revision guides so that you can make the most out of your revision plan.
The Layout of Your ITEC Exams
ITEC exams consist of a theory paper with 50 questions. Multiple choice questions are used on all of the papers, with each question offering 4 possible solutions. In order to pass the theory paper you need to get at least 60%, which means that a minimum of 30 correct answers is required in order to just receive a pass mark. If you are aiming for a distinction or a credit then you really need to work very hard. A distinction requires 45 correct answers! The number of questions you get relevant to the amount of course work you had to learn is quite small. But the issue with multiple choice is the fact that there is no room for error with the answers, you can only choose one and it must be correct.
The Best Preparation For ITEC Exams
Before you start to prepare for your ITEC exams, you will need to have all of the following;
1. A revision plan
2. A large collection of multiple choice questions and answers
3. Quizzes and puzzles that you can complete
4. Record cards
Your revision plan should be organised and structured from the very beginning. It needs to be on paper, typed, printed and put in a place so you can see it at all times, for example, on the wall over your desk. Your plan should include;
1. Subject area to be revised
2. Start date
3. End date
Once you have this done you will be aware of exactly what needs to be learned. Your progress can be tracked very easily by marking off the subject areas you have studied. This type of structured revision plan will enable you to stay focused while preparing for your ITEC exams.
What Study Guides To Use For Your ITEC Exams
In order for any revision plan to be successful you need to have the right study guides. It is very important to use multiple choice questions when you are revising as these are the questions that are on your ITEC exams. It is also a useful idea to have a range of puzzles and quizzes that you can complete throughout the year. These are a great way to get the brain working and to test what you have learned in class.
There are a variety of revision guides that are used by students studying beauty or holistic subjects. These study guides contain a wealth of quizzes and puzzles including multiple choice questions, short answer quizzes, crossword and word search puzzles, fill in the blanks and true or false quizzes. The majority of the quizzes come as online tutorials too which is a great feature. These are the type of study guides that you should be revising with.
How To Pass ITEC Exams Easily
Now that you have the proper study guides and your revision plan is in place, you need to start preparing for the exams. I have outlined a popular 3 step approach below that I would recommend you follow. It has been the most successful approach for students.
1. Choose a topic to learn (one from your revision plan) and pick 20 multiple choice questions that relate to this topic. Using the record cards that I mentioned at the beginning of the article, write each of the questions out on these cards. Following the allocated time on your revision plan for this subject area, learn these questions, for example, if you chose to learn the stages of mitosis over 2 days, pick 20 questions on this area and learn them over the 48 hours. The best way to do this is to keep the record cards in your bag so you can take them out and learn them throughout your day. You may think you don't have time to do this but you'd be amazed at how much spare study time you can find during your day, for example, you can take out your record cards during your commute to and from work, if you are stuck in a queue or if you are on your lunch break. Always remember to follow the same question format as your ITEC exams i.e. multiple choice questions.
2. Various quizzes and puzzles should be completed regularly. It is important to examine what you have learned in the multiple choice questions and quizzes & puzzles are a perfect way to do this. The idea behind quizzes and puzzles is that you can complete them over and over again. Online tutorials are a definite must have for students. They can be completed on your computer, laptop or Ipad at any stage during the day. The best thing is you can just press the Start Again button, which will delete your previous attempt so you can practice again from the very beginning. The best time to do this is the evening time, when you have studied all your multiple choice questions for the day.
3. Follow Step 1 and 2 from Monday through Friday and then give yourself an exam at the weekend on everything you have learned that week. I would recommend an exam with about 50 or 60 questions, similar to the ITEC exams. Do not look at your books or notes when you are doing the exam, this is very important. When you are finished, mark the exam honestly, this will give you a great idea as to what areas you are confident in and what areas need more study. Keep all exams so you can track your progress throughout the year.
Following this system not only fully prepares you for your ITEC exams but it also prepares you for the layout of your exam papers. I know a lot of students are overwhelmed when they start their course but once you are prepared for your ITEC exams in this way then you will feel much more confident and relaxed.
