Being a manager of a business than you have to be taking the steps required to make a point that you do everything the right method. Trying to manage employees might seem easy - but it is one of the most challenging tasks anybody may have. There are numerous rookie problems that people will make when in this position that can anger the employees.
The first error that some will make is attempting to set the goals for people that they can't feasibly meet. Try to give them adequate time to finish the task and make a point that they have the info they need to get it completed right the first time.
If you have allotted them a tricky schedule because your bosses have not given you another choice than be prepared that they will work long hours. Don’t battle with them about trying to pay overtime and intentionally limit the time they can work on the project.
If they have not made any mistakes than don’t automatically think that they will. Trust everyone that works for you unless there is a valid reason not to. If there are trust issues with anyone than you must consider hiring somebody new.
Any problems between two or three employees need to be covered cautiously. Do not select a side - but be a moderator that may assist to resolve the problem. You need for them to work things out so they might continue to work with one another without animosity.
In order to be an competent project manager you have to set a good example for everyone else. Don’t be somebody who comes in late to work and leaves early and takes long lunches each day. Seek to come in before they do and leave with them. This shows that you are working as hard.
